EQUINE HEAD & VERTEBRAL COLUMN – LEARNING SET
A detailed equine learning set featuring the head, hyoid and complete vertebral column from the cervical vertebrae through to the tail.
Designed for visual and hands-on learning, this set is great for students, colleges, demonstrations and anyone who wants to explore how the different sections of the equine spine fit together.
The set includes:
Head with movable jaw
Cervical vertebrae
Thoracic vertebrae
Lumbar vertebrae
Sacrum
Caudal (tail) vertebrae
Pelvis
Mini hyoidMOVABLE JAW
The skull and mandible come ready fitted with a spring-action jaw, giving the jaw movement without you having to work out how to attach everything yourself.
The springs can also be removed if required.
VERTEBRAL COLUMN
The thoracic and lumbar sections are supplied on wire, helping to keep the individual vertebrae together while still allowing you to see their position and progression along the spine.
The sacrum and caudal vertebrae are supplied separately.
When the complete vertebral column is laid out, it measures approximately 60 inches in length.
Individual vertebrae average approximately 42 × 30 × 60 mm, although their size and shape naturally varies depending on their position within the vertebral column.
PELVIS
The included pelvis measures approximately 192 × 173 × 120 mm and allows the corresponding bones to be positioned alongside it, helping you explore how the different areas relate to one another.
FREE MINI HYOID
The set also includes a mini equine hyoid which can be positioned within the head to help demonstrate where this small structure sits.
The hyoid is naturally a delicate and intricate shape, so this version has been designed with additional reinforcement around its joints to make it more suitable for handling and demonstrations.
SKULL DETAIL
I've tried to include as much useful detail as possible within the skull, including features of the nasal region, while still creating a model that can be handled and used as a practical learning resource.
Finish: Bone White

Equine Bodyworks

Whole Horse Bodywork & Equine Education
A horse-first approach to bodywork
Bodywork should never just be about what we want to achieve, it should also be about what the horse is telling us along the way.
My approach has developed over many years of working with horses and focuses on gentle hands-on bodywork, observation and allowing the horse to take an active part in the session.
Rather than working to a fixed routine, I pay attention to the individual horse in front of me, how they move, how they respond and when they may need me to change what I am doing.
The aim is simple, to create an environment where the horse can be listened to rather than worked on.
Alongside equine bodywork I also provide owner education, demonstrations, day courses, online learning and my Easy Equine Anatomy books and resources.

Welcome to Equine Bodyworks by Mary Sargeant MMCP.
My approach to bodywork has always been about looking at the whole horse rather than simply focusing on one area.
Every horse is an individual and every session is guided by the horse in front of me, paying attention to their behaviour, movement and responses along the way.
Listening to the horse is a huge part of how I work. Rather than following a fixed routine or deciding beforehand what a horse needs, I adapt what I am doing according to the information the horse gives me throughout the session.
Sometimes doing less tells us far more than doing more.
Alongside hands-on bodywork, education has become a big part of Equine Bodyworks.
Through courses, demonstrations, online learning, anatomy resources and my Easy Equine Anatomy books, I aim to make equine anatomy easier to understand and encourage owners to become curious about the whole horse — how everything connects and, most importantly, what their own horse may be telling them.
